Why would SFMTA schedule this for one of the first weeks of classes for CCSF, SFSU and SFUSD fall semesters? Incredibly frustrating, disappointing and inconsiderate when this could have been completed before the school year starts.

How this was approved is beyond me. Has anyone on the project ever driven eastbound from 4-6pm between 4th and 2nd? It takes 30 minutes to drive a single city block with the traffic leading into the bay bridge. 5 cyclists maybe pass during that time. But yes let’s take away a whole car lane so we have bidirectional bike lanes on a one way street. Even tho there’s a westbound bike lane already a block away on Howard. This is unreal 😭

Congrats to the team! This is an exciting project. I highly recommend the SFMTA look into similar sidewalk widening, and greening of Bryant, Brannan and Townsend streets south of the highway. Wide streets could have a center running paseo lined with trees similar to streets in the Roma Norte neighborhood in Mexico City.
